About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage day-to-day warehouse operations, including staff scheduling, inventory control, productivity, facility maintenance, and financial management
- Schedule warehouse personnel for shipping, receiving, and other activities
- Direct shipping, receiving, sanitation, maintenance, and inventory-control operations
- Generate productivity reports and manage labor hours to meet budgets and warehouse goals
- Use financial reports to manage cash flow, transportation yield, and warehouse-related expenses
- Drive profitable growth by increasing revenue and improving warehousing efficiency
- Oversee scratch rates, out-of-stock issues, receiving errors, selection errors, and product slotting
- Maintain warehouse equipment through preventive maintenance and repairs
- Implement and maintain warehouse safety programs in compliance with OSHA and other regulations
- Ensure a clean and safe work environment
- Build a motivated, customer-focused team
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and service delivery
- Coordinate activities through phone, email, and web conferencing
- Develop performance metrics and use data-driven approaches to optimize processes
- Recruit, train, manage performance, and plan succession for warehouse personnel
- Train new employees on warehouse systems and procedures
- Perform other duties supporting warehouse and organizational goals
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5 years of experience in transportation and logistics management with supervisory or managerial responsibilities is preferred
- Experience in the freight forwarding industry or related fields
- Gateway and/or airline ground handling experience is advantageous
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Leadership and team-building abilities
- Deep knowledge of logistics processes, regulations, and industry best practices
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and business processes
- Results-driven with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Organized and able to work effectively in a diverse environment
- Knowledge of TSA and Customs & Border Protection regulations preferred
- Fluent in English, oral and written
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems is a plus
- Ability to work extensive and occasionally staggered hours for multi-shift access
- Minimal domestic and international travel may be required
