About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the warehouse department across operational disciplines to ensure operational excellence, high productivity, and customer satisfaction
- Coordinate warehouse activities and facility maintenance under the direction of the Warehouse Manager and Branch and Regional Management
- Train warehouse personnel and ensure a coordinated shipping and receiving plan
- Schedule warehouse personnel to maintain proper staffing for product selection and receiving
- Direct daily shipping, receiving, sanitation, maintenance, and inventory-control activities
- Adhere to budget requirements and work toward branch objectives and goals
- Maintain warehouse equipment through preventive maintenance programs and necessary repairs
- Ensure personnel have safe and efficient equipment for distribution functions
- Manage warehouse safety programs and compliance with OSHA and company policies
- Recommend equipment requirements and replacements
- Recruit, hire, train, manage performance, and discipline direct reports
- Report timely and comply with deadlines
- Research and present ideas to improve warehouse operations
- Attend scheduled and impromptu meetings
- Coach and support employees to maintain motivation and productivity
- Train new employees on warehouse systems and procedures
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma required
- 2–3 years of experience in transportation and logistics management with supervisory or managerial responsibilities preferred
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in customer service and logistics preferred qualifications
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
- Must have forklift experience
- Material Handling Certification preferred
- Dangerous Goods Qualification preferred
- Forklift Operation and Certification preferred
- Some experience with Warehouse Management Systems
- Proficiency in basic MS Office applications
- English reading, writing, and verbal skills preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the warehouse environment
- Advanced competency in business administration
- People management and leadership experience, including recruitment, selection, training and development, coaching, and performance management
- Strategic planning skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work well in a diverse environment and culture
- Ability to develop networks and relationships
- Ability to work in a time-sensitive, fast-paced environment under pressure
- Ability to work staggered or extensive hours for multi-shift access
- Minimal domestic and international travel may be required
