About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the warehouse department across operational disciplines to ensure operational excellence, productivity, and customer satisfaction
- Coordinate warehouse activities and facility maintenance under the direction of the Warehouse Manager and Branch and Regional Management
- Schedule warehouse personnel daily to ensure proper staffing for product selection and receiving
- Direct shipping, receiving, sanitation, maintenance, and inventory control activities
- Adhere to budget requirements and work toward branch objectives and goals
- Maintain warehouse equipment through preventive maintenance programs and repairs
- Ensure warehouse personnel have safe and efficient equipment
- Manage warehouse safety programs and compliance with OSHA and applicable federal, state, local, and company policies
- Recommend equipment requirements and replacements
- Recruit, hire, train, manage performance, discipline, and plan succession for direct reports
- Provide coaching and support to motivate and improve employee productivity
- Train new employees on warehouse systems and procedures
- Ensure timely reporting and compliance with deadlines
- Research and present ideas to improve warehouse operations
- Attend regularly scheduled and impromptu meetings
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma required
- 2–3 years of experience in transportation and logistics management with supervisory or managerial responsibilities preferred
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in customer service and logistics preferred; equivalent combination of education and/or experience considered
- Must have forklift experience
- Material Handling Certification preferred
- Dangerous Goods Qualification preferred
- Forklift Operation and Certification preferred
- Some experience with Warehouse Management Systems preferred
- English reading, writing, and verbal skills preferred
- Proficiency in basic MS Office applications
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of warehouse environment
- Advanced competency in all aspects of business administration
- People management and leadership experience, including recruitment, selection, training and development, coaching, and performance management
- Strategic planning skills
- Strong organizational skills, including prioritizing, planning, assigning, and controlling
- Ability to work well in a diverse environment and culture
- Ability to develop networks and relationships
- Ability to work in a time-sensitive, fast-paced environment under pressure
