About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the warehouse department across operational disciplines to ensure operational excellence, high productivity, and customer satisfaction
  • Coordinate warehouse activities and facility maintenance under the direction of the Warehouse Manager and Branch and Regional Management
  • Train warehouse personnel and ensure a well-coordinated shipping and receiving plan
  • Schedule warehouse personnel daily to ensure proper staffing for product selection and receiving
  • Direct day-to-day warehouse activities, including shipping, receiving, sanitation, maintenance, and inventory control
  • Adhere to budget requirements and work toward branch objectives and goals
  • Maintain warehouse equipment through preventive maintenance programs and necessary repairs
  • Ensure warehouse personnel have safe and efficient equipment for distribution functions
  • Manage warehouse safety programs and maintain a safe, clean workplace in compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Recommend equipment requirements and replacements to improve warehouse productivity and efficiency
  • Recruit, hire, train, manage performance, and discipline direct reports
  • Provide timely reporting and comply with deadlines
  • Research, identify, and present ideas to improve warehouse operations
  • Attend regularly scheduled and impromptu meetings
  • Manage and lead warehouse personnel, including succession planning
  • Coach and support employees to maintain motivation and productivity
  • Train new employees on warehouse systems and procedures
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma required
  • 2-3 years of experience in transportation and logistics management, with supervisory or managerial responsibilities preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in customer service and logistics; equivalent combination of education and/or experience considered
  • Must have forklift experience
  • Material Handling Certification preferred
  • Dangerous Goods Qualification preferred
  • Forklift Operation and Certification preferred
  • Some experience with Warehouse Management Systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of warehouse environment
  • Advanced competency in all aspects of business administration
  • People management and leadership experience, including recruitment, selection, training and development, coaching, and performance management
  • Strategic planning skills
  • Strong organizational skills, including prioritizing, planning, assigning, and controlling
  • Ability to work well in a diverse environment and culture
  • Ability to develop networks and relationships
  • Ability to work in a time-sensitive, fast-paced environment under pressure
  • English preferred for reading, writing, and verbal communication
  • Proficiency in basic MS Office applications
  • Ability to work extensive and occasionally staggered hours for multi-shift access
  • Ability to perform occasional standing, walking, and lifting
  • Ability to use computer and telephone equipment
  • Close and distance vision
  • Willingness/ability to work under applicable federal, state, local, and company safety policies and OSHA regulations
