About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and supervise functions of the assigned patient care area on a 24-hour basis
- Ensure effective delivery of clinical patient care and compliance with administrative and clinical policies and procedures
- Participate in development of the clinical area's strategic and operational plans
- Support and promote a professional practice model and collaborative clinical standards
- Communicate the unit, department, and organizational mission; advocate for staff and patients
- Interface with patients and families to ensure care meets expectations
- Ensure use of the nursing process from admission through discharge
- Serve as a professional role model, mentor, and change agent
- Support a diverse, unit-based workforce and coordinate staff participation in councils and committees
- Coordinate patient care delivery, maintain clinical competencies, and provide bedside care as needed
- Assess, coach, and evaluate staff practice; develop clinical development and career satisfaction programs
- Maintain unit records, reports, and statistics
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, environmental, infection-control, and performance-improvement requirements
- Oversee hiring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations, and related personnel activities
- Plan, schedule, organize, distribute, and delegate work
- Manage unit inventory, equipment, supplies, personnel, space, and facilities
- Coordinate nursing activities with other hospital personnel
- Ensure orders, treatments, care plans, clinical pathways, and documentation support patient recovery
- Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Operations on fiscal requirements and budget recommendations
- Monitor resource use and develop action plans for budget and resource efficiency
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required
- Master's degree in Nursing strongly preferred
- Three years of nursing experience is required
- Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina
- BCLS certification required
