About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate and participate in daily clinic preparation activities
- Review next-day patients and complete preparation activities
- Enter pre-visit orders and prepare new patient charts
- Manage patient records, reports, forms, insurance cards, and medical documentation
- Check patients in and out and verify and update patient information in Maestro Care
- Present required forms, educate patients, and obtain signatures
- Collect and post copayments and account balances
- Coordinate laboratory tests, procedures, ancillary services, and referrals
- Prepare, audit, batch, and post encounter forms and charges in Maestro Care
- Schedule tests, procedures, return appointments, and primary or referring physician visits
- Explain billing and determine cash collections based on insurance plans
- Answer telephones, take and distribute messages, and accurately report medical information
- Disseminate messages according to practice communication standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school education or equivalent knowledge of basic grammar and mathematical principles
- Minimum of one year of work experience directly communicating with and providing service to patients or the public, preferably in a healthcare-related field
- Experience effectively coordinating multiple tasks or activities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic PC and data entry skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology and telephone etiquette
- Ability to organize and prioritize work
- Ability to provide oral and written instructions
- Ability to interact tactfully with customers and establish and maintain effective relationships
- Ability to apply departmental policies, rules, and regulations for verifying patient information, collecting payments, and maintaining records and forms
