About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and apply advanced computed tomography methods, focusing on photon-counting CT, quantitative image analysis, and machine learning
- Work across NIH-funded research projects in preclinical and translational imaging
- Investigate spectral photon-counting CT of cerebral vasculature and intracranial aneurysms
- Conduct photon-counting CT and computational imaging research for head and neck cancer
- Perform multiorgan CT studies of aging and cardiovascular disease
- Develop CT reconstruction, image-processing, material decomposition, and quantitative spectral imaging methods
- Perform image segmentation, registration, and quantitative morphometry
- Apply machine learning and deep learning to CT image analysis and reconstruction
- Develop computational and digital-twin models for preclinical imaging
- Analyze longitudinal and dynamic imaging data
- Develop and validate imaging biomarkers
- Combine method development with analysis of experimental imaging data
- Participate in preclinical imaging studies and development of new imaging protocols
- Discharge research or scholarship responsibilities, which may include teaching
- Maintain laboratory notebooks or comparable research records
- Discuss research activities with the mentor and disclose materials, software, and potentially patentable discoveries
- Comply with responsible research, scholarly, safety, conduct, and University policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.) in biomedical engineering, electrical or computer engineering, medical physics, computer science, applied physics, or a closely related field
- Candidates with non-US degrees may be required to provide proof of degree equivalency
- International candidates must generally have the requisite degree conferred before an immigration petition or visa document can be issued for sponsorship
- Strong quantitative and computational background
- Experience in CT or other tomographic image reconstruction, medical image analysis, machine learning or deep learning, Python and/or MATLAB, or scientific computing and numerical methods preferred
- Experience with computing, PyTorch, spectral CT, photon-counting detectors, or preclinical imaging helpful but not required
- Work performed on-site or at a designated assignment location
