About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research under the mentorship of Dr. Mustafa Bashir and affiliated faculty mentors
  • Perform chart reviews and collect research data for ongoing imaging studies
  • Analyze medical imaging datasets, including image segmentation and interpretation
  • Apply machine learning and deep learning methods to medical image analysis projects
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Duke University and Duke Health
  • Contribute to scientific publications, presentations, and dissemination of research findings
  • Support research administration and other project-related responsibilities as needed
  • Participate in a scholarly environment preparing fellows for independent academic and research careers
  • Work on substantially full-time research and scholarly activities, with possible teaching responsibilities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field, or an equivalent doctoral degree such as Sc.D., M.D., or D.V.M.
  • Demonstrated interest in medical imaging research and quantitative image analysis
  • Ability to conduct independent research while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and scientific communication skills
  • Candidates with degrees earned outside the United States may be required to provide proof of degree equivalency
  • Candidates who have completed all doctoral degree requirements but whose degree has not yet been formally conferred may provide documentation verifying completion and anticipated conferral date
  • Standard postdoctoral appointment terms and eligibility requirements established by Duke University apply
