About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently plan and provide professional nursing care according to physician orders and established policies and procedures
  • Provide nursing services to patients and families within the scope of an RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing
  • Plan, provide, and document nursing care using the nursing process under team leader or charge nurse supervision
  • Delegate tasks and supervise licensed and unlicensed care providers
  • Assist healthcare personnel in delivering patient care
  • Maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources
  • Prioritize work organization and identify resources to complete care promptly
  • Maintain required competencies and pursue learning needs and educational offerings
  • Support development of staff and formal learners
  • Identify clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assist with improvement activities
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the role

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduation from an accredited BSN program
  • Registered Nurses without a BSN or higher must enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of start date and complete it within five years
  • One year of RN experience required for Level II Registered Nurses
  • Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina
  • BLS required
  • Knowledge of registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, and NCA scope
  • Knowledge and application of the nursing process
  • Ability to assess acute and chronically ill patients and families
  • Ability to use computers and learn new software programs
  • Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions
  • Working knowledge and completion of JCAHO and other regulatory requirements
  • Pre-employment Physical Capacity Testing Required
  • Ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking
