About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Independently plan and provide professional nursing care according to physician orders and established policies and procedures
- Provide nursing services to patients and families within the North Carolina RN scope of practice
- Plan, provide, and document care using the nursing process under team leader or charge nurse supervision
- Delegate tasks and supervise licensed and unlicensed care providers
- Assist healthcare personnel with patient care
- Maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources
- Prioritize work organization and identify resources to complete care promptly
- Maintain required competencies and pursue learning needs and educational offerings
- Support development of other staff and formal learners
- Identify clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assist with improvement activities
- Perform related incidental duties
- Provide pediatric primary care support for well-child visits, checkups, immunizations, physicals, screenings, and management of conditions including asthma, allergies, and diabetes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduation from an accredited BSN program
- Registered Nurses without a BSN or higher must enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of start date and complete it within five years, subject to stated exceptions
- One year of RN experience required for Level II Registered Nurses
- Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina
- BLS required
- Knowledge of the registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, and NCA scope of practice
- Knowledge and appropriate application of the nursing process
- Knowledge of professional theory, practice, and procedure
- Ability to assess acute and chronically ill patients and their families
- Ability to use computers and learn new software programs
- Competence in BLS and/or other designated specialized life support requirements
- Working knowledge of routine and special patient treatments
- Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions
- Working knowledge and completion of JCAHO and other regulatory requirements
- Ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking
- Pre-employment Physical Capacity Testing Required
