About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Complete the six- to nine-month New to the Operating Room training program
  • Provide and supervise direct and indirect total nursing care
  • Use the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care under the DUHS Professional Practice model
  • Provide nursing services to patients and families
  • Participate in the clinical ladder program, educational activities, departmental committees, research projects, and other health-related projects as assigned
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and maintain respectful relationships
  • Scrub and circulate in operating-room specialties according to the assigned service line and location
  • Adjust schedules after orientation based on unit needs, preceptor schedules, individual progress, and management discretion

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experienced RNs without operating room experience and new graduate nurses are welcomed to apply
  • No previous work experience is required
  • Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program is required
  • Registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) must enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of start date and complete it within seven years
  • Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse OR current compact RN licensure to practice in North Carolina required by start date
  • RN license required before February 22, 2027
  • Must provide nursing services within the scope of an RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing
  • Must adhere to applicable local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting-body requirements
