About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform complex diagnostic CT procedures under the direction of the radiologist.
- Perform routine CTs and CTAs.
- Take accurate verbal patient histories and start IVs to administer IV contrast.
- Maintain a positive imaging environment and act as a patient liaison to the radiologist.
- Complete computer applications, scanning, scanner quality control, daily paperwork, and protocoling.
- Maintain detailed patient histories.
- Keep radiation exposure to ALARA levels.
- Provide the radiologist with quality networked images.
- Interact professionally with radiologists, site managers, clerical staff, and patients.
- Perform ordered examinations according to accepted standards and site-specific radiologist protocols.
- Maintain patient care, comfort, and safety during examinations.
- Administer IV and oral contrast under radiologist guidance and site-specific protocols.
- Review and explain procedures to patients.
- Perform equipment quality checks, troubleshoot problems, call for service, and notify pertinent team members.
- Maintain a clean environment and complete necessary protocolling tasks.
- Follow quality assurance guidelines, maintain patient confidentiality, and comply with CT imaging and safety policies.
- Maintain technical competency through continuing education and Duly Health and Care-sponsored training.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited education program in radiology technology required.
- ARRT Registered Technologist, RT(CT).
- Current IEMA license.
- BLS -- Basic Life Support, AED Adult & Pediatric CPR required.
- Minimum one year CT related experience or training preferred.
- Maintain current IEMA license for CT and complete 24 hours of CE every 2 years.
- Knowledge of radiation safety and protection, performing examinations, equipment operation, medical waste handling, patient safety, and applicable rules and regulations.
- Occasional holidays required.
- Ability to work M-F rotating shifts 7:30a-4p and 11:30a-8p.
- Two weekend days per month, 7:30a-4p only.
- Ability to travel to Tinley Park, Lockport, and Joliet.
