About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and coordinate services for Retail Pharmacy, Physician Dispensing, and Infusion Therapy Mixing Areas.
  • Safely fill and dispense prescriptions in the Retail Pharmacy and Infusion Mixing Room.
  • Supervise Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Obtain and maintain credentialing and licensure for all DuPage Medical Group pharmacy sites.
  • Develop policies and procedures related to pharmaceuticals and reimbursement, business, and personnel management.
  • Manage profit and loss for the retail pharmacy and other initiatives.
  • Identify future pharmaceutical business opportunities throughout DuPage Medical Group.
  • Fill and dispense prescriptions ordered by physicians and midlevel providers.
  • Compound prescribed medications and chemotherapy.
  • Maintain appropriate prescription records and required documentation.
  • Monitor drug therapy by evaluating patient medical history for drug interactions, adverse reactions, therapeutic dosages, and compliance.
  • Assess productivity, quality, and timeliness; track trends and outcomes; recommend process improvements.
  • Hire, orient, train, appraise, coach, and discipline staff.
  • Provide patient and family counseling and drug education.
  • Participate in staff education through inservice presentations, medical literature searches, and individual counseling.
  • Participate in inventory control, including purchasing, receiving, and stocking medications and pharmacy supplies.
  • Comply with governmental and other regulations for product preparation, packaging, and storage.
  • Contact physicians and benefits providers to process prescriptions.
  • Complete third-party insurance forms and required paperwork.
  • Create and use cost-benefit analyses and offer therapeutic alternatives when appropriate.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Pharm D required
  • Current Illinois State Pharmacy License
  • 3-5 years as a pharmacist
  • Management experience preferred
  • Oncology experience preferred
  • Disease states, therapeutic use of drugs, clinically significant drug interactions, and adverse drug reactions and their interrelatedness.
  • Knowledge of drug names, strength, dosage forms, generic equivalent, and storage requirements.
  • Basic pharmacy compounding and dispensing
  • Inventory control procedures and practices
  • State laws and regulations regarding practice of pharmacy
  • Knowledge of third-party reimbursement programs and requirements
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirement related to dispensary and infusion area
  • Knowledge of USP 797 clean room standards
  • Thorough knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA and other regulatory policies and requirements
