About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as Department Lead Technologist and assist other GI Technicians
- Ensure quality and accountability for assigned work
- Supervise department work and delegate tasks to staff
- Counsel and coach team members, including conflict mediation
- Maintain staff schedules and manage time off and call-ins to ensure adequate staffing
- Organize trainings and in-services
- Assist with staff development, new employee orientation, and training
- Monitor staff compliance with policies and procedures
- Maintain accreditation logs, records, infection queries, daily surveys, and incident reports
- Maintain records verifying professional employees’ licenses and certifications
- Coordinate bi-annual peer chart reviews for all doctors
- Communicate with accreditation consultants and mobile anesthesia
- Manage office inventory, equipment service, purchasing, supplies, training, and vendor relationships
- Ensure instrumentation and supplies are available before surgical procedures
- Set up, turn over, clean, and restock GI rooms
- Maintain sterile and aseptic technique during procedures
- Clean, prepare, decontaminate, and maintain GI scopes, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies
- Observe and anticipate common surgical complications and assist with emergency care; report unusual conditions to the RN
- Document biological indicators for sterile processing equipment
- Maintain sterile storage and inventory levels
- Stock supplies in rooms and blanket warmer
- Assist with room turnovers
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma
- BCLS/ACLS Certification, renewed every two years
- All minimum qualifications
- Central Service Department experience
- Minimum of two years’ experience in the Endoscopic Suite
- Minimum of one year supervisory experience
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work independently under established policies, procedures, and standards
- Knowledge of standard instrumentation and equipment, their functions and uses
- Knowledge of universal precautions and hazardous materials management
- Ability to set up surgical trays and wrap appropriately for sterilization
- Ability to clean, prepare, and decontaminate GI scopes and equipment
- Must be able to work Monday-Friday, 6am-3pm, with rotating Saturdays
- May be required to travel to other locations
