About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Use pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of examination to examine human specimens for diagnosis, prevention, treatment, or assessment of medical conditions
- Perform clinical analyses in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, and urinalysis using varied methodologies and instrumentation
- Collect, receive, and process specimens
- Verify specimen labeling and evaluate specimen acceptability
- Prioritize specimen processing and aliquot specimens according to protocols
- Perform analytical testing for the assigned laboratory section
- Analyze laboratory samples for technical review and interpretation
- Evaluate quality control and maintain instrumentation and equipment
- Prepare and maintain reagents, standards, and control materials; notify supervisors of shortages or problems
- Recognize test system performance problems and take corrective action
- Review and evaluate results for completeness, correctness, and consistency
- Report test results in the laboratory information system within stated turnaround times
- Establish and monitor programs ensuring data accuracy and quality assurance
- Review pending logs and follow up to complete or cancel pending tests
- Initiate and document troubleshooting and problem solving
- Analyze lab reports for accuracy
- Store specimens and related materials according to protocols
- Ensure the laboratory is inspection ready at all times
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science or Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution in accordance with CLIA
- Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from the IERF (International Education Research Foundation)
- Must be certified through American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within the specified timeline: within the year of hire for Biological Degree(s); within six months of hire for MLS/MT training programs
- CPR preferred
- Previous experience in a hospital laboratory or clinical laboratory preferred, but not required
- New graduates welcome to apply
- Must perform rotating shifts between 6am-9:30pm and rotating weekends
- Travel may be required to surrounding locations
