About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide high-quality support to physicians in meeting patients' medical needs
- Escort patients to and from exam rooms and prepare them for physicians
- Take vital signs and record medical histories and symptoms
- Ensure medical charts and laboratory results are available and complete
- Perform telephone triage and provide patient education
- Handle physician and pharmacy calls
- Assist with scheduling appointments and arranging hospital tests or admissions
- Administer immunizations and minor treatments as prescribed
- Record and document clinical activities in patient charts
- Assist physicians with procedures
- Clean and stock examination rooms
- Clean and prepare instruments for procedures
- Track needed medical supplies
- Complete paperwork for laboratory tests, X-rays, school/work notes, and related requests
- Clean and sterilize equipment
- Check and restock the medication cabinet
- Respond to patient questions and concerns as a liaison between physician and patient
- Report test results to patients as directed by the physician
- Perform OSHA controls and assist with narcotic counts
- Perform projects and other duties related to department objectives
- Provide patient care using current nursing practices and act as a patient advocate
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current IL RN licensure
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program
- Current CPR certification
- Prefer a minimum of one year of professional nursing experience in a clinical or hospital setting; new graduates may be considered under specific circumstances
- Ability to get along with others and work as a team player
- Ability to accept constructive criticism from a supervisor
- Ability to follow work rules
- Ability to perform OSHA controls as required
- Ability to assist in performing narcotic counts
