About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide high quality support to physicians in meeting patients' medical needs.
  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms and prepare them for physicians.
  • Take vital signs and record medical history and symptoms.
  • Ensure medical charts and lab test results are available and complete.
  • Perform telephone triage and patient education.
  • Handle physician and pharmacy calls.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and arranging hospital tests or admissions.
  • Administer immunizations and minor treatments as prescribed.
  • Record and document activities in patient charts.
  • Assist physicians with procedures as necessary.
  • Clean and stock examination rooms.
  • Clean and prepare instruments for procedures.
  • Order lab tests and X-rays and complete related paperwork.
  • Clean and sterilize equipment and restock medication cabinets.
  • Respond to patient questions and concerns as a liaison between physician and patient.
  • Report test results to patients as directed by the physician.
  • Perform OSHA controls and assist with narcotic counts.
  • Perform other projects and duties related to department objectives.
  • Function as a patient advocate and initial contact for patient-related issues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Current IL RN licensure
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program
  • Current CPR certification
  • Prefer a minimum of one year of professional nursing experience in a clinical or hospital setting but may consider new grad under specific circumstances
  • Ability to get along with others, be a team player, accept constructive criticism from your supervisor, and follow work rules
  • Current nursing practices knowledge
  • OSHA controls knowledge
  • Ability to perform narcotic counts
