About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the product strategy, vision, and roadmap for Duplo's Financial Operations suite
  • Unify E-Invoicing, Billing, Expense Management, and Direct Debit into a coherent FinOps strategy
  • Identify expansion opportunities into adjacent products such as payroll
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of the FinOps monetisation roadmap from discovery and BRD/PRD authorship through launch and adoption
  • Maintain an outcome-based roadmap balancing capabilities, customer commitments, compliance, and technical debt
  • Track the competitive and market landscape for spend management, accounts payable and receivable automation, and B2B payments across Africa
  • Own invoicing and e-invoicing, including invoice creation, recurring invoices, reminders, payment collection, reconciliation, and tax-authority compliance
  • Scope and ship invoicing enhancements such as split payments, partial payments, payment links, referrals, and accounting or ERP synchronisation
  • Own local payments, including single and bulk payouts, vendor and beneficiary management, scheduled and recurring payments, receipts, and reconciliation
  • Design approval workflows, maker-checker controls, limits, permissions, and audit trails
  • Monitor transaction success rates, processing times, and failure reasons, and improve payment reliability with Engineering and partners
  • Own cross-border payments, including FX quotes, rate transparency, beneficiary onboarding, documentation, payment tracking, and delivery confirmation
  • Expand payment corridors and currencies while improving pricing, settlement speed, and compliance
  • Evolve expense management with budgets, approval policies, controls, and reporting
  • Define plans, pricing, packaging, usage-based charges, and dunning with Finance and GTM
  • Own customer migration planning for monetised billing features
  • Grow direct debit through mandate setup, collection, failure handling, and reconciliation
  • Define and track FinOps success metrics, including activation, adoption, and revenue impact
  • Own Dashboard product analytics, including event tracking, funnels, cohorts, and retention views
  • Run feature-usage audits and decide whether to improve, reposition, or retire features
  • Publish recurring product performance reports for leadership
  • Own growth across sign-up, KYB completion, activation, retention, and expansion
  • Design and run experiments on onboarding, pricing, referrals, and lifecycle messaging
  • Drive cross-sell across invoicing, payments, expense management, and the wider Duplo offering
  • Partner with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success on launches, positioning, enablement, demos, training, and in-app communication
  • Conduct customer discovery and stakeholder interviews across Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, and Kenya
  • Turn support tickets, sales feedback, and churn reasons into prioritised problem statements
  • Communicate directly with customers about releases and close feedback loops
  • Partner with Engineering, Design, Compliance, Finance, and GTM to deliver well-scoped product increments
  • Lead backlog prioritisation, sprint planning, release readiness, user acceptance testing, and post-launch reviews
  • Define operational processes, admin tooling, and support playbooks
  • Represent the Financial Operations suite in cross-functional planning and mentor or support other product managers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7–8 years of product management experience
  • Experience owning a B2B fintech, payments, or SaaS product from strategy through delivery
  • Demonstrated experience shipping financial operations solutions and monetisation or billing features, including subscriptions, invoicing, usage-based billing, or similar
  • Hands-on experience with payments products, including local payouts and collections and/or cross-border payments and FX
  • Working understanding of payment rails, settlement, reconciliation, and failure handling
  • Experience building products for finance teams, such as invoicing, accounts payable and receivable, expense management, or accounting and ERP integrations
  • Strong ability to write clear BRDs/PRDs and work cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, Compliance, and GTM
  • Ability to define success metrics, prioritise a roadmap, and make trade-off decisions using data
  • Strong product analytics skills, including event tracking, funnels, cohort analyses, and BI tools such as Metabase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar
  • SQL is an advantage
  • Track record of driving product growth through experimentation, with measurable improvements in activation, retention, or expansion revenue
  • Commercial acumen in pricing, packaging, and revenue models
  • Working knowledge of KYC/KYB, AML, tax and e-invoicing rules, and data protection
  • Experience or strong interest in African markets and building B2B financial infrastructure across multiple countries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bias for action and comfort operating in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving priorities
