About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for Alberta and Saskatchewan
  • Provide application support, troubleshooting, product selection guidance, and commissioning assistance
  • Research and develop solutions addressing customer application requirements
  • Support product setup, configuration, testing, and validation
  • Conduct bench testing, troubleshooting, and RMA support
  • Build and maintain customer relationships through exceptional service and technical expertise
  • Support customers throughout specification, implementation, commissioning, and post-project follow-up
  • Participate in virtual and onsite customer meetings
  • Gather information for technical proposals and solutions
  • Travel throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan to provide onsite technical support
  • Identify and engage potential new customers to grow Automation & Controls sales opportunities
  • Develop account growth strategies with Account Managers and Business Developers
  • Identify market-share expansion opportunities
  • Conduct customer visits to uncover application challenges and project opportunities
  • Promote Automation & Controls solutions through networking, customer outreach, supplier engagement, and industry events
  • Generate and qualify leads for the sales team
  • Assist with technical quotations, product specifications, and part numbers
  • Support Technical Inside Sales with product inquiries, pricing requests, and customer opportunities
  • Deliver technical presentations, Lunch & Learn sessions, customer training, Automation Labs, and technical demonstrations
  • Provide internal technical training and product knowledge support
  • Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturer representatives, Business Development, Technical Inside Sales, and branch teams
  • Support quality initiatives and continuous improvement by documenting concerns and sharing technical knowledge

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation, instrumentation, process control, electrical distribution, or related industry
  • Strong knowledge of industrial automation, instrumentation, process measurement, control products, and related technologies
  • Technical diploma, apprenticeship, certification, or post-secondary education in Automation, Instrumentation, Electrical, Engineering Technology, or a related field is an asset
  • Sales experience supporting technical quotations and industrial projects is considered a strong asset
  • Experience providing technical support, field service, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer-focused solutions
  • Experience supporting industrial customers, contractors, engineering firms, and key accounts
  • Experience in business development within a technical or industrial environment is considered an asset
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in ERP, CRM, Microsoft 365, and the ability to learn new software platforms
  • Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan
  • Only those living in Canada with permanent work authorization will be considered
