About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver essential waste and recycling services for East Sussex residents
  • Manage key facilities, projects, contracts and service improvements
  • Work with Veolia, Brighton & Hove City Council, district and borough councils, and other partners
  • Support higher recycling, lower carbon impacts, Environment Act reforms, UK ETS, closed landfill, coastal pollution response, PFI contract expiry, future waste strategy and local government reorganisation
  • Analyse data
  • Manage budgets and payments
  • Prepare reports and briefings
  • Develop policies and procedures
  • Lead high-profile waste service improvements and support net zero objectives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Significant experience working at a strategic level in the waste industry
  • Experience developing and maintaining effective partnerships
  • Ability to take on new and complex areas of work, learn quickly, and lead them confidently through to delivery
  • Experience preparing reports, developing strategies and ideas for policy improvement, and supporting good decision-making
  • Strong self-motivation
  • Ability to work under pressure and translate policy into workable solutions
  • CV and Supporting Statement required
  • Ability to work in the UK or eligibility for UK work sponsorship
