Key responsibilities & impact

Contribute to external Group and UK&I statutory audits, partnering with external auditors to improve efficiency and deliver high-quality audits on time
Lead and contribute to departmental initiatives, including improving the control environment, redesigning and standardising workflows, leveraging automation and AI tools, and integrating acquired entities into finance processes
Serve as a subject matter expert on core finance systems and reporting tools, providing system knowledge, troubleshooting, and process guidance
Reconcile multi-currency intercompany accounts in a complex, matrixed environment
Review assigned account reconciliations, journal entries, and audit samples before submission to external auditors
Support the monthly close by analysing transactions, identifying issues, and preparing complex or judgmental journal entries with clear supporting working papers
Promote thorough documentation, best practices, process improvements, continuous learning, and adaptability
Proactively manage accounting risks and controls, escalating issues when necessary
Mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to junior team members
Support the broader accounting function through additional responsibilities and projects aligned with business priorities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
Strong grounding in financial accounting and month-end close
Prior experience working as an external auditor, preferably within a Big 4 or mid-tier firm
Strong technical knowledge of FRS 102 and IFRS accounting standards, including points of difference
Ability to apply accounting guidance using sound judgement in ambiguous or non-standard scenarios
Ability to work independently, identify issues, and drive problems through to resolution without detailed instruction
Ability to prioritize, manage ambiguity, and adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment
Advanced MS Excel skills
Experience working with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics F&O preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communication with external stakeholders
Proven record of delivering high-quality outputs within strict timelines
Strong attention to detail, analytical capability, and numerical aptitude
Exposure to multi-entity or multi-currency accounting
