About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prospect and close new business to achieve sales revenue goals within an assigned territory
  • Develop and execute selling strategies that drive revenue growth
  • Prepare for and execute cold calls to prospective commercial customers
  • Secure appointments to present and sell construction and solid waste services
  • Conduct pre-sales research to understand customer needs
  • Gather marketing and pricing materials and prepare for objections
  • Use sales productivity tools, including the prospect and customer database, proposal program, and pricing tools
  • Facilitate prospect follow-up meetings and match services to customer needs
  • Demonstrate knowledge of customers, pricing, and the competitive landscape
  • Communicate pricing and service strategies effectively
  • Refer additional business opportunities internally as appropriate
  • Recommend equipment optimization and leasing options
  • Negotiate and close sales by presenting alternatives that lead to mutually beneficial agreements
  • Prepare and deliver sales proposals for complex accounts
  • Conduct post-sale administrative work to ensure successful product and service implementation
  • Work primarily in the field, visiting customer sites throughout the assigned territory, with remote or home-office work

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of sales experience required
  • Strong goal-setting, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • High-impact communication skills
  • Ability to travel 100 percent, including regular driving to customer sites throughout the assigned territory
  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods, and to sit or stand through customer meetings
  • Frequent use of hands for driving, typing, and general office and sales equipment
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person, by phone, and in writing
