About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead Security Operations and Security Engineering at EDB, reporting to the CISO
Own threat detection, incident response, and scalable security engineering
Lead incident response end to end, from intake and severity modeling through after-action reviews and improvement
Partner with Legal on investigations
Direct detection engineering, threat hunting, and SIEM, EDR, SOAR, and cloud security platforms
Develop preventive controls, least privilege, and identity assurance across employees, contractors, and build systems
Build the insider threat program with HR, Legal, and IT
Use automation and agentic AI to extend analyst capacity while retaining analyst decision ownership
Integrate acquired companies and new environments into EDB standards
Partner with IT and Product leadership on preventive controls in platforms, pipelines, and products
Provide security input to third-party risk and device posture with GRC
Scale organizational design, operating rhythms, roadmap, budget, and vendor strategy

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of management experience leading security teams
7+ years of hands-on experience in security operations, incident response, detection, or security engineering
Track record of scaling a security function through rapid growth, including hiring, automation, and operating discipline
Strategic thinking beyond the immediate scope of the role
Ability to translate technical risk into business impact for executives, legal, customers, and IT and Product counterparts
Comfort in a global, remote-first environment with flexible schedules and on-call responsibilities
Hands-on scripting or automation experience such as Python or Go
Experience applying AI or agent-based automation to security workflows
Cloud security experience and background in M&A security integration
Experience building an insider threat or identity assurance program
