About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Survey losses and loss scenes at residential and commercial buildings
- Conduct investigations to determine and document the scope of damage
- Investigate and assess damages due to failures and determine the origin of failure for insurers and litigation support
- Analyze and document failure analysis and causation of failures
- Collaborate with Fire Investigators to produce detailed reports outlining causes and origins of losses and damages
- Serve as an expert witness in court and/or depositions
- Document and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis for forensic engineering projects
- Collaborate with EFI’s national team of forensic experts on projects
- Deliver comprehensive engineering analyses to clients across a range of industries
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in Florida is required
- Six (6) years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education required
- Hands-on experience determining causes of structural failure
- Experience with storm and roof damage assessments
- Experience with building envelope investigations
- Experience evaluating structural collapses
- Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods
- Ability to kneel, squat, bend, stoop, reach/work overhead, climb, and crawl
- Ability to work outdoors in hot and/or cold weather conditions
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds
- Ability to drive up to 4 hours per day
