About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the US income tax provision, compliance, and controls
- Manage external providers preparing the provision and tax returns, and remain accountable for their output
- Own the quarterly and annual ASC 740 provision, including deferreds, valuation allowance, uncertain tax positions, rate reconciliation, and footnote disclosures
- Own the US federal and state compliance calendar, including returns, extensions, and estimated payments
- Manage technical tax work involving §174 capitalization, §382, and NOL tracking
- Assist in designing, documenting, and operating tax controls
- Write memoranda supporting tax positions
- Work directly with Big 4 advisors and external auditors alongside the Head of Tax
- Build and lead the direct tax team as the company brings provision and compliance in-house
- Potentially expand into M&A, PE mitigation policy, corporate structuring, and broader tax leadership
Requirements
What you’ll need- Deep ASC 740 expertise at a multinational, including provision, deferreds, valuation allowance, uncertain tax positions, rate reconciliation, and footnote disclosure
- Experience owning a US federal and multistate compliance calendar, including returns, extensions, and estimates
- Working knowledge of US international provisions: NCTI/GILTI, Subpart F, FDDEI, and §163(j)
- Experience managing Big 4 or equivalent providers and working directly with external auditors
- Experience building or operating SOX controls over tax, or supporting a first SOX implementation
- CPA
- Bonus: pre-IPO or first-10-K experience, §174/§41 computation, §382 studies, equity compensation tax (ISOs, NSOs, RSUs), and OneSource Tax Provision or similar
