About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and scale the voice systems at the core of ElevenLabs
Own backend architecture and production systems
Work closely with research engineering and security
Modernise voice architecture, including data models, storage and APIs
Improve reliability of voice cloning and fine-tuning pipelines through monitoring, retries and failure recovery
Build voice creation, verification and recommendation capabilities
Own workstreams from design to production, including frontend changes where needed

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong backend engineering experience building and scaling high-traffic production systems
Strong system design and database fundamentals, including data modelling, concurrency, migrations and security
Experience operating production services
Strong debugging, monitoring and failure recovery skills
Independent ownership and clear communication
Confidence working across the stack
Experience modernising complex systems or building in a high-growth company is a plus
Prior audio experience is not required
