About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and maintain usage tracking that meters requests accurately without impacting latency
Lead migration of enterprise pricing and usage processing, including stream-processing services for usage events
Improve customer upgrades and payments, including payments through different entities and support for new payment providers
Work with Finance and Tax teams on compliance, audit and reporting requirements
Enable pricing and Growth experiments with Growth and product teams
Debug complex customer billing scenarios using customer experience, logs and code, then fix root causes
Collaborate with Sales, FDEs, Finance and engineers across the company
Scope projects carefully, plan migrations and roll out changes without disrupting customers

Requirements

What you’ll need

No formal experience, certifications, or degrees required
Expertise in Python
Strong background in backend development
Experience with APIs, cloud infrastructure tools, storage solutions, data structures, common software and system design patterns
Strong test design and security fundamentals
Care and attention to detail when changing live systems that handle money
Ability to learn a large existing system quickly and debug complex production issues
Experience solving impressively hard problems through past projects or GitHub contributions
Bonus: experience with payment processing providers or billing and usage-based pricing systems
Bonus: experience with stream processing or high-throughput event pipelines
Bonus: experience working with finance, tax or audit requirements
Bonus: experience with Kubernetes
