About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Learn how early-stage biotech users work and identify workflow bottlenecks
- Conduct interviews, prototypes, and working sessions to validate problems before engineering commitment
- Prioritize problems and make the case for sequencing
- Turn discovery into a buildable product direction
- Own product strategy, scope, roadmap, launch, and post-launch iteration end to end
- Write strategy, specifications, and analysis
- Communicate decisions clearly to engineering, leadership, and end users
- Define release scope and decide what to exclude
- Define success metrics and ensure adequate product instrumentation
- Mentor product managers and product-adjacent peers
- Partner with engineering and design on hiring and maintain hiring standards
- Establish team processes for discovery, specifications, and decision-making
- Partner with engineering and design on planning and negotiate scope
- Navigate enterprise infrastructure, security, privacy, and compliance requirements
- Incorporate Lilly R&D expertise into products
- Represent the product to technical and scientific end users
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree
- 8+ years of product management experience
- Track record of shipping software that end users rely on
- Experience operating as a senior or staff product manager on a small team
- Experience taking a product from zero to one
- Experience taking a fuzzy problem from research to scope to shipped product
- Customer interview and roadmap review experience
- SQL or similar data-querying skills
- Familiarity with AI/ML and model capabilities and limitations
- Hands-on experience shipping LLM-powered features, including reliability, evaluations, context management, and appropriate AI use
- Ability to hold technical discussions with engineers about architecture and tradeoffs
- Experience working in small, undefined-roadmap environments
- Self-sufficient, broad ownership mindset
- Experience in life sciences, pharma, biotech, or health tech is valued
- Experience building B2B SaaS or platform products is valued
- Experience shipping into regulated environments and familiarity with data governance and timelines
