About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead all quality assurance and testing activities across program initiatives
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and testing frameworks
  • Oversee manual, automated, functional, integration, regression, system, and user acceptance testing efforts
  • Establish and enforce QA standards, methodologies, and best practices
  • Lead and mentor QA engineers, testers, and automation specialists
  • Collaborate with product owners, developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to define quality requirements
  • Design and implement automated testing solutions to improve testing efficiency and coverage
  • Monitor defect management processes and ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Conduct root cause analysis and support continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, release planning, and deployment activities
  • Develop and maintain quality metrics, dashboards, and status reporting
  • Support compliance with federal security, accessibility, and software development requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of software quality assurance experience
  • At least 3 years of experience leading QA teams or serving in a QA Lead capacity
  • Experience with VA systems, processes, and organizational structure
  • Experience managing healthcare, IT modernization, digital transformation, or clinical support programs within the VA
  • Experience supporting federal government IT programs
  • Hands-on experience with test planning, test execution, defect tracking, and quality management processes
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks
  • Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required federal background investigation
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any required federal background investigation or VA clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Preferred: experience supporting federal healthcare or health IT systems
  • Preferred: experience with healthcare interoperability standards, electronic health records, or healthcare data systems
  • Preferred: certification such as CSQE, ISTQB Advanced Test Manager, CSM, or SAFe Agilist
  • Preferred: experience with cloud-based environments and DevSecOps practices
  • Preferred: experience supporting enterprise-scale modernization programs
