- Identify product gaps through live-deployment visits, walk-up tests, conversation-log reviews, customer feedback, and build audits
- Maintain a ranked list of broken, rough, or missing product elements
- Prioritize fixes by building a sequenced roadmap and balancing fixes, polish, and new features using field evidence
- Drive design and engineering delivery by writing specs and acceptance criteria, running product reviews, removing blockers, and maintaining a high quality bar
- Drive launch readiness for releases and customer go-lives through checklists, go/no-go decisions, acceptance, day-one monitoring, and post-launch fixes
- Sign off before releases reach customer floors
- Partner with sales, deployment, and customer success to convert field issues into product fixes and customer updates
- Represent the user across all five layers of the stack
- Work directly with the CEO and founders leading AI and engineering
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4–8 years of product management experience, including several years on hardware-plus-software products (devices, kiosks, robotics, consumer electronics, in-venue technology)
- Early-stage startup experience (seed to Series B, under ~50 people), owning a product end to end without a product team behind you
- Track record of taking products from working to polished, where quality rather than scope was the deliverable
- Product judgment for walk-up physical experiences using touch, voice, and large screens in public spaces
- Experience with AI or conversational products and a clear method for measuring quality in probabilistic systems
- Ability to write clear specs, acceptance criteria, and readiness checklists; work from logs, metrics, and dashboards
- Field orientation, including personally running site acceptance in stores, lobbies, or stadiums
- Credibility with engineers and designers; technical enough to debate tradeoffs and design-literate enough to judge finished work
- Required hands-on use of AI tools in own work for analysis, prototyping, and writing
- Proactive approach: spots gaps before others report them, proposes fixes, and drives them forward unasked
- Ownership and a clear point of view on what the product should be
- Able to work on-site in Palo Alto; lives in or will relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area
- Strongly preferred: launch or quality ownership for a hardware-plus-software product deployed at scale in retail, hospitality, healthcare, or venues
- Digital human, avatar, voice assistant, or conversational AI product experience
- Hardware program experience including build validation, manufacturing partners, installation, and field service
- End-to-end product ownership in a startup or small team
