About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Price controls materials, systems, and services for complete and functional building automation systems
  • Determine costs, analyze customer requirements, and formulate quotation strategies
  • Determine costs for large-scale mechanical projects without drawings, plans, or specifications
  • Gather and disseminate market intelligence by communicating with buyers, end users, vendors, and other sources
  • Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and requirements when available
  • Collaborate with Estimating, Engineering, and Sales departments to analyze requirements and develop quotation strategies
  • Identify optimum material cost and availability acceptable to the customer
  • Prepare material and labor estimates and bills of material for quotations
  • Use estimating documentation and electronic programs in the quotation process
  • Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Follow up through order closure and manage orders throughout the manufacturing process

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Mechanical Engineering or HVAC experience
  • 2+ years’ experience estimating/selling in commercial building automation/HVAC
  • HVAC Take-Off estimating experience is a plus
  • Broad understanding of mechanical systems, including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and HVAC controls systems
  • Working knowledge of Mechanical Code and local municipal codes
  • Working knowledge of Title 24 and OSHPD requirements
  • Working knowledge of BACnet, LON, and Modbus networks and architecture
  • Experience with energy management solutions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn and manage internal proprietary systems
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and/or construction plans
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and teamwork
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, meet deadlines, and perform detailed work in a timely manner
  • Strong negotiating and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow up through order closure and manage orders throughout the manufacturing process
