About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead electrical design efforts for projects
- Work closely with project teams on layouts, racks, pipe runs, and electrical rooms
- Partner with the BIM team to load accurate information into models and coordinate with all trades
- Ensure drawings are signed off
- Work with the Project Manager, Prefab Manager, and Foreman to identify prefab opportunities
- Work with the Prefab Design team to create build books for the prefab shop
- Review projects with the Project Manager, including estimated workforce hours, schedule, specifications, drawings, and submittals
- Develop effective project construction methods
- Prioritize tasks and manage workload using a six-week schedule
- Ensure General Foremen/Foremen understand project plans
- Review field installation drawings with General Foremen/Foremen and the Design Team
- Use common tool sets and assemblies to improve field installation drawing consistency
- Use models to create Bills of Material
- Visit jobsites to explain prefab intent and installation methods
- Train new crews on prefab means and methods
- Gather field feedback and improve projects and processes
- Communicate regularly with Project Managers and field teams to share and enforce company standards
- Attend project coordination meetings as Gaston's technical expert
- Work toward on-time deliveries
- Take ownership and hold others accountable to avoid project delays and issues
Requirements
What you’ll need- Electrical Journeyman License
- 5+ years commercial electrical field experience OR Electrical engineering degree + 2 years electrical design experience in low or medium voltage
- Previous coordination experience or familiarity with the coordination process helpful
- Familiarity with all electrical systems
- Thorough understanding of Electrical, Fire Alarm, and Low Voltage systems and their field/prefab/coordination constructability
- Ability to lay out electrical systems
- Ability to work collaboratively while demonstrating a desire to lead
- Proactive, analytical, and critical problem-solving ability
- Confident, effective, and professional verbal and written communication
- Comfortable using and learning new technology
- MS Office required
- Bluebeam preferred
- Navisworks not required
- MS Teams not required
- Revit preferred
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods
- Ability to sit for long periods
