About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare and/or coordinate full cost estimates on large and complex projects based on client documents
- Gather and disseminate market intelligence by communicating with buyers, end users, vendors, and other information sources
- Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and requirements to formulate quotation strategies
- Collaborate with Estimating, Engineering, and Sales Departments to analyze customer requirements and develop quotation strategies
- Identify optimal material costs and availability within approved supplier or country-of-origin lists
- Prepare material and labor estimates for quotations
- Use estimating documentation and electronic programs to prepare bills of materials and labor estimates
- Complete documentation on time and in an organized manner according to company policies and management directives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Mechanical Engineering degree or HVAC experience
- 4+ years' experience in estimation with a focus on NAVFAC or federally funded projects
- Broad understanding of mechanical systems, including Chillers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, primary and secondary piping, HVAC ductwork, RTUs, AHUs, and VAVs
- Experience with tooling, machining, fabrication, or construction environments and industries
- Fluency with Office Suite, including SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Strong technical writing skills
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and/or construction plans
- Strong negotiating and organizational skills
- Ability to perform detailed work promptly, follow up through order closure, and manage orders throughout the manufacturing process
