About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Check and plan daily and future bookings within the Cleric controlling system
- Ensure resourcing is correct and inform subcontractors, taxis, and volunteers where applicable
- Schedule journeys within contracted time windows
- Dispatch and manage operational crews for timely and efficient patient collection and delivery
- Match demand to capacity in real time, allocating appropriate vehicles and crew skill mixes
- Receive patient transport requests and ambulance journey queries accurately, effectively, and politely
- Undertake clerical duties including checking booking lists, data input, and completing ad-hoc forms and invoices
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and good housekeeping in the operating system
- Maintain and enhance service performance and quality
- Handle internal and external telephone calls promptly and professionally
- Liaise with GPs, nursing homes, hospital clinics, and wards
- Maintain end-to-end journey flow across control areas
- Resolve urgent issues such as late running, cancellations, vehicle issues, and capacity constraints through dynamic replanning, resource reallocation, and escalation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience of working in a regulated, complex, time-critical operational environment
- Desirable experience in logistics, control, route planning, or analytical roles
- Desirable experience working to time-critical KPIs/service level targets
- Experience using operational systems to monitor performance, prioritise work, and take corrective action
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills gained from dealing with customers or members of the public
- Commitment to delivering a high-quality, customer-focused service
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to engage at all levels within an organisation
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent organisational skills with ability to multitask and prioritise
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and use initiative
