About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop a roadmap for taking new materials into production
- Lead parameter development for new or existing materials to achieve required mechanical properties, microstructure, composition, and density
- Develop and maintain internal standards for material property requirements
- Participate in and represent Emerson on ASTM, ASME, API, and NACE codes and standards committees related to additive manufacturing
- Develop and test prototypes hands-on in the Additive Technology Lab
- Support production with material non-conformance analysis and disposition
- Collaborate on printer efficiency, including gas flow effectiveness, machine settings and variables, and scanning strategies
- Support the global organization with failure analysis and supplier qualification
- Review additive technology breakthroughs across the industry to keep the program current
- Provide technical guidance in metallurgical engineering
- Contribute input on equipment selection and processing changes as the program scales
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS in Materials Engineering or related field with a materials focus
- 3-5 years of Additive Manufacturing experience
- Experience with build prep software such as 3DXpert
- Documentation, organization, and project management skills
- Clear, effective communication, including the ability to develop and deliver presentations and give tours
- Ability to quickly learn and apply new technology
- Self-motivated, self-sufficient, and capable of working with teams with competing interests and priorities, in different countries
- Strong collaboration skills
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Legally authorized to work in the United States; no current or future work authorization sponsorship
- Master’s degree is preferred
