About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform on-site instruction of customer personnel
  • Write and modify maintenance procedures
  • Perform quality control tests and/or product evaluation
  • Provide complete and timely activity reports, emphasizing problems encountered
  • Direct personnel engaged in installation, modification, and repair of control systems, subsystems, and equipment
  • Provide engineering advisory assistance to customers
  • Liaise within the company on equipment-related issues
  • Cultivate relationships with internal project teams, customer project teams, and contractors
  • Analyze and address problems associated with installation, start-up, and operation of distributed control systems and subsystems at customer locations
  • Provide expert support for PLC and/or DCS systems
  • Apply troubleshooting, problem-solving, decision-making, and planning skills

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or a similar technical curriculum, or relevant field engineer experience in lieu of education
  • Experience with ControlWave SCADA
  • Understanding of basic networking
  • Computer assembly/troubleshooting experience
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 70-80% to meet business needs, including some weekends and overnight stays of 1-3 weeks at a time
  • Ability to adhere to Emerson's vehicle policy
  • Valid US driver's license
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
  • Preferred: Experience with DCS/PLC controls
  • Preferred: Experience with Ovation
  • Preferred: Experience in the power and water/wastewater treatment industries
