About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead development programs for ECM products using project management practices, innovation methods, and lean NPD processes
- Establish product design direction and conduct design reviews
- Define qualification plans
- Ensure product compliance with applicable safety and certification standards
- Coordinate product approval with design validation and certification teams
- Define product and technology roadmaps in collaboration with Marketing, Procurement, Planning, and Emerson business partners and leaders
- Formulate technical recommendations based on end-user research and industry trends
- Cultivate creative thinking, innovation, and growth among associates
- Monitor performance, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews
- Build effective engineering teams
- Forecast engineering requirements, prepare budgets, schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions
- Provide regular reports for executive leadership
- Share responsibility for East Dundee lab operations
- Direct a global engineering team through all phases of new product development
- Report directly to the Global Engineering Director within the Appleton business unit
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Working knowledge of mechanical design and electrical systems
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and Canadian Electrical Code
- 8+ years of demonstrated new product design and project management experience
- 3+ years of leadership experience
- Demonstrated drive for innovation, technology leadership, and successful product introductions
- Exceptional leadership acumen of multidisciplinary global technical teams
- Experience developing products to safety agency regulations
- Excellent communication skills
- Legal authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship will not be provided
- Preferred: Master of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or New Product Development
- Preferred: Experience with electronic design and agency certifications for hazardous locations
- Preferred: Experience working with professionals globally
