About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary hardware engineering teams to develop test and measurement products
  • Develop register maps and generate documentation that communicates design intent
  • Own full FPGA design, including logic implementation, data movement and analysis, testbenches, compilation, and timing analysis
  • Own digital board-level design, including schematic entry, layout guidelines, signal integrity simulations, and prototype validation
  • Develop and execute plans for prototype hardware bring-up and board-level validation
  • Represent digital design in project meetings
  • Estimate level of effort for design tasks
  • Provide work-status updates and proactively raise technical concerns
  • Work throughout the product lifecycle to develop products and systems expanding test and measurement capabilities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Proficiency designing with digital logic and synchronous elements, including flip-flops, timing diagrams, and state machines
  • Fundamental knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, including schematic, layout, and V&V
  • Working knowledge of programmable logic design with VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog
  • Working knowledge of computer architectures and interfaces
  • Fundamental knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C, or LabVIEW
  • Located within a commutable distance to NI Corporate headquarters in Austin, TX, or willing to relocate
  • Familiarity with common benchtop instruments such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, function generators, and power supplies
  • Familiarity with Xilinx, Intel, or Lattice FPGAs and CPLDs, as well as their design tools
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must not require work authorization sponsorship now or in the future
