About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare and manage Work Injury Damages (WID) claims
  • Oversee statutory litigation matters within the Personal Injury Commission
  • Manage other legally complex claims
  • Undertake legal project work
  • Provide expert legal guidance and support to EML’s Nominal Insurer claims teams and policy holders
  • Provide timely, accurate legal advice on legislative, regulatory and policy matters relating to workers’ compensation
  • Partner with external legal panel providers to develop effective litigation strategies
  • Represent EML in legal proceedings alongside external legal representatives
  • Contribute to strategic portfolio reviews and present to employers on key legal principles and individual claim matters
  • Monitor and interpret emerging case law and precedents impacting claims management, premiums and the broader scheme
  • Report to the Legal Manager and contribute to performance targets and organisational objectives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1–3 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally within a Workers Compensation practice managing Work Injury Damages (WID) and statutory workers compensation matters
  • Proven experience in a comparable legal role operating within a fast-paced, commercially focused environment
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management
  • Legal expertise and workers compensation knowledge
  • Commitment to helping others
