About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform routine professional accounting duties requiring limited independent judgment
  • Monitor, audit, and reconcile departmental accounts
  • Research and create new accounts and codes
  • Prepare journal transactions, balance accounts, reconcile errors, and take corrective action
  • Assist with preparation and monitoring of departmental budgets
  • Advise management of cash deficits
  • Prepare audit schedules supporting internal and external audits
  • Maintain databases and assimilate financial and statistical data
  • Prepare routine operational and statistical reports
  • Assist with computer operations for the department
  • Maintain departmental grants and monitor petty cash activity
  • Coordinate invoice preparation, payables, and/or receivables
  • Perform related responsibilities as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
  • Must reside in the state of Georgia
  • Must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based on business needs
  • Ability to perform professional accounting duties with limited independent judgment
  • Accounting, account reconciliation, auditing, journal transactions, budgeting, financial reporting, database maintenance, and financial/statistical data analysis
