About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and implement data analysis pipelines for data science and machine learning/artificial intelligence
  • Meet specifications of faculty or senior staff independently or in collaboration with research staff, trainees, and fellows
  • Use modern programming languages on UN*X operating systems
  • Work with sensitive data in secure environments while adhering to legal frameworks such as HIPAA
  • Design and maintain study databases, including relational databases and data lakes
  • Create and maintain documentation for analysis pipelines to facilitate knowledge transfer
  • Contribute to research dissemination materials, including manuscripts and presentations
  • Contribute to research design materials, including project proposals
  • Perform project management or lab management duties according to defined specifications
  • Collaborate with on-premises computing professionals to configure and maintain physical systems when needed
  • May supervise undergraduate and graduate trainees
  • Perform related responsibilities as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master's degree OR bachelor's degree and two years of experience OR six years of experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Experience in machine learning, AI, informatics, or related fields desired
  • Preferred degree fields include mathematics, statistics, computer science, artificial intelligence, informatics, engineering, or a related field
  • Experience using modern programming languages on UN*X (Unix-like) operating systems
  • Knowledge of version control, unit testing, and code documentation best practices
  • Ability to work with sensitive data in secure environments and adhere to legal frameworks such as HIPAA
  • Ability to design and maintain study databases, including relational databases and data lakes
  • Ability to commute to Emory University as needed and sometimes on short notice
