About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in clinical operations and medical oversight of the Cytogenetics Laboratory
  • Review, interpret, and sign out clinical cytogenetic and molecular studies, including karyotype, FISH, chromosomal microarray, methylation, NGS, and other genomic testing
  • Provide consultation to clinicians regarding test selection, interpretation, and follow-up testing
  • Develop, validate, implement, and optimize new clinical assays and genomic technologies
  • Collaborate with laboratory leadership, staff, and clinical stakeholders to expand clinical testing services
  • Participate in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and laboratory improvement initiatives
  • Troubleshoot technical and clinical issues
  • Collaborate across pathology, genetics, oncology, pediatrics, and other clinical disciplines through multidisciplinary conferences, tumor boards, and other clinical activities
  • Educate and mentor pathology residents, fellows, medical students, and other trainees
  • Collaborate on clinical, translational, and genomic research
  • Develop scholarly and quality-improvement initiatives and contribute to publications, abstracts, and presentations
  • Advance the integration of cytogenetics, molecular diagnostics, and genomic medicine

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • D., D.O., Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree
  • ABMGG board certification or eligibility in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (LGG), or ABMGG board certification in Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics/Genomics
  • Expertise in clinical cytogenetics and/or genomic diagnostics
  • Expertise including chromosome analysis, FISH, chromosomal microarray, and molecular testing
  • Experience with NGS, bioinformatics, genomic data analysis, variant interpretation, and clinical assay development is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across laboratory, clinical, and academic teams
  • Curriculum vitae and names of three professional references required for application
