About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review, analyze, and reconcile daily gifts and other receivables between the advancement database, normalized reporting tables, and the University's financial accounting system
- Assist senior staff with reviewing and auditing gift transactions for accuracy
- Provide backup support for daily gift deposits, credit card processing, payroll gifts, return check adjustments, and correspondence
- Record specialized gift-related transactions, including stock gifts, gift-in-kind donations, and wire gifts
- Prepare journal transactions, balance accounts, reconcile errors, investigate exception items, and take corrective action when appropriate
- Prepare monthly balanced schedules of gift-related transactions for the controller's office, internal audit, and the University's external auditor
- Provide audit support to internal and external auditors
- Work additional hours and some holidays during peak periods, including fiscal year-end and calendar year-end activity
- Report to the Senior Associate Director of Gift Accounting
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in an office setting OR an equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training
- Experience with budget and financial reporting
- Experience with digital imaging, Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, and CRM systems
- High proficiency in ten-key data entry (number pad)
- Strong organizational, written, verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and navigate a complex work environment
- Commitment to excellent customer service and collaborative work
- Comfort working with ambiguity
- Prior experience in advancement, fundraising, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting
- Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines
- High level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality, sound judgment, and discretion
- Must reside in the state of Georgia
- Must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule
