About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build, optimize, and provide technical support for digital platforms within Emory University’s Advancement and Alumni Engagement digital ecosystem
- Guide the department’s marketing and communications efforts
- Develop strategic communications, branding, brand management, and marketing strategies for strategic initiatives
- Develop programs, special event advertising, program materials, proposals, marketing kits, social media, and other communication materials
- Develop effective methods for marketing strategies and distributing communication materials and information
- Train others in the use of communications technology as needed
- Work with external vendors
- Monitor project budgets
- Design, develop, and maintain applications, websites, and digital platforms using front-end and backend frameworks
- Support SaaS, enterprise, and cloud-based deployments on Shopify, Acquia, Gravyty, and AlumnIQ
- Build core and custom functionality using JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Liquid, and Node.js
- Write scripts to automate deployment, configuration, and API installations
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in development and production environments
- Maintain platform governance, documentation, security, accessibility, and technical standards
- Collaborate with Information Technology teams on security, connectivity, and deployment concerns
- Partner with the Marketing Intelligence team to translate audience insights into personalized experiences
- Report to the Director of Communications and Marketing - Experience Technology
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree and three years of professional experience in journalism, communications or marketing OR an equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training
- Three or more years of full stack development experience (JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Liquid, Node.js, front-end frameworks)
- Drupal back-end module familiarity using PHP, YAML, and Composer
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Shopify, Acquia)
- Clear communicator able to explain technical concepts to varied audiences
- High level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and navigate a complex work environment
- Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs
- Residency in the state of Georgia required
