About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work 1:1 with people living with dementia at their assisted living community
  • Develop tailored, individualized activities based on participants' interests and abilities
  • Implement strategies and activities outlined by the occupational therapist's plan
  • Document activities completed during one-on-one encounters
  • Complete necessary paperwork and computer documentation
  • Gather participant updates from senior living community staff
  • Communicate participant changes to clinical staff
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, daily huddles, patient/family education, care planning, and safe transitions of care
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow clinic and departmental policies
  • Build cooperative relationships with professionals, providers, patients, families, and community agencies
  • Escalate concerns appropriately and seek guidance when necessary
  • Pursue professional development opportunities with the supervisor
  • Complete additional assignments and projects as directed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of related experience
  • Experience working with older adults desired but not required
  • Prior experience working with people living with dementia preferred but not required
  • Ability to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs
  • Residency in the state of Georgia required
  • Ability to perform physical requirements including frequent standing and walking, close eye work, lifting up to 50 lbs, and carrying objects up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of participant information
  • Ability to complete computer documentation and paperwork
