About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the University's subject matter expert on Title IX implementation
  • Hold ultimate responsibility for compliance with Title IX, VAWA, the Campus SaVE Act, and related federal and state laws and regulations
  • Monitor campus climate and identify opportunities for improvement, resources, and grievance procedures
  • Oversee Title IX complaint investigations and collaborate with campus offices and partners
  • Oversee education, training, outreach, and gender-equity programming
  • Advise constituencies on Title IX and Clery Act issues, including sexual harassment, sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and stalking
  • Oversee complaint investigations, responses, resolutions, and investigator supervision
  • Ensure investigators, advisors, decision-makers, adjudicators, and other personnel receive appropriate training
  • Ensure investigations are fair, timely, impartial, thorough, and properly documented
  • Supervise staff, allocate work, train employees, enforce procedures and controls, resolve problems, and evaluate performance
  • Train and oversee Deputy Title IX Coordinators
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and update University policies and procedures
  • Lead regular or legally required review and revision of the Title IX Policy
  • Maintain and oversee the case management database
  • Prepare statistical reports and track cases, data, and trends
  • Identify systemic patterns and recommend corrective actions
  • Assess the impact of Title IX education, training, and outreach efforts
  • Perform related responsibilities as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master's degree and five years of progressively responsible experience including Title IX compliance administration, complaint resolution and investigation of grievances and/or related policy administration experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Strongly preferred: JD or other related advanced degree
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret Title IX and other non-discrimination laws and regulations
  • Administrative experience in higher education or a non-profit organization is desirable
  • Strong organizational, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent listening skills and experience facilitating difficult conversations with a wide range of constituencies
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain a clear and steady commitment to the highest and best principles in complex, ambiguous, and highly charged situations
  • High degree of discretion and ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to build rapport, develop allies, and influence cross-departmental and cross-divisional action
  • Position tasks generally required to be performed in person at an Emory University location
