About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Administer Human Resources policies, procedures, and related forms for a department or division
- Coordinate compliance with organizational policies and procedures
- Complete, review, and process required forms and documents
- Advise or refer individuals regarding human resources issues
- Advise supervisors and managers and prepare paperwork for job reclassifications and new positions
- Assist in creating and updating departmental position descriptions
- Process payroll paperwork and may assist with departmental budgets
- May supervise support staff
- Assist with human resources education and training efforts
- Use database management, word processing, spreadsheet, and other computer applications
- Partner with Department Administrators and Directors to provide HR consultation and support
- Collaborate with Central HR Recruitment and Compensation teams on hiring, salary recommendations, promotions, reclassifications, and merit actions
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding, including I-9 completion, PeopleSoft transactions, orientation support, and separation processing
- Support employee relations matters, including performance management, policy interpretation, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns
- Administer leave programs, including FMLA and related leave requests
- May manage immigration-related processes, including J-1 and H-1B visa preparation and coordination
- Review, calculate, and process payroll adjustments
- Maintain HR records and data integrity in PeopleSoft and other university systems
- Support workforce planning, talent management, and organizational effectiveness initiatives
- Participate in RSPH HR projects, process improvements, and strategic initiatives
- Ensure compliance with university policies, federal regulations, and employment laws
- Handle confidential employee information with discretion and sound judgment
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field and two years of experience in human resources administration, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Experience working in higher education, academic medicine, or a similarly complex organizational environment
- Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Human Resources or comparable HRIS
- Professional Human Resources certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent is preferred but not required
- Some experience with employee relations matters, including performance management, conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and workplace investigations
- Exposure to FMLA and immigration processes
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with senior leaders, faculty, administrators, and stakeholders
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Must reside in the state of Georgia
- Must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based on business needs
