About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead, develop, and implement strategic planning and relationship management with local, national, and international corporate and foundation prospects
- Partner with advancement officers, faculty, and Emory University and Emory Healthcare leadership to increase philanthropic support, corporate executive and employee engagement, economic development and entrepreneurship, research collaborations, and corporate student engagement
- Expand the base of private philanthropic foundation prospects and donors on regional and national levels
- Develop, shape, and negotiate institutional and programmatic project ideas for funding consideration
- Oversee the full cycle of relationship building, cultivation, and solicitation of corporations and foundations
- Communicate and negotiate donor-centric ideas beneficial to Emory
- Oversee creation of proposals, letters, briefings, and other fundraising materials
- Ensure adherence to complex application and solicitation requirements
- Maintain an active portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects with major gift potential
- Manage a team within the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations serving schools and units and managing key corporate and foundation funder relationships
- Travel to meet with donors as needed
- Meet department metrics for visit preparation, qualification, contact reports, visits, referrals, and accurate CRM coding
- Perform related responsibilities as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree
- Eight years of experience in fundraising or a corporate and/or foundation setting
- Staff management experience
- Experience managing projects, budgets, and financial reports
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, and CRM systems
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and ability to work with ambiguity in a complex work environment
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills
- Experience leading teams and working independently and collaboratively
- Experience in a comprehensive campaign setting, including a strong track record of raising annual and major gifts from foundations
- Prior experience in alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting
- Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines
- Experience reading, analyzing, designing, and executing fundraising processes and procedures
- High level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality, with sound judgment and discretion
- Ability to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule
- Residency in the state of Georgia required
