About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Helps design and conduct research within a specified field under the guidance of a designated Principal Investigator
- Receives advanced training to enhance professional skills and research independence
- Designs and evaluates experiments
- Develops new ideas that promote current research
- Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator
- May operate specific equipment
- May teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff
- Applies novel advanced machine learning, deep learning, and AI tools to multiple streams of genomics data, including genetics, transcriptomics, epigenetics, and proteomics
- Studies the underlying genomics etiology of complex diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, age-related motor traits, and Parkinson disease
Requirements
What you’ll need- A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field
- Excellent scientific writing ability
- Strong oral communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues
- Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator
- Preferred: doctoral degree or equivalent Ph.D. degree in Statistics/Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, quantitative genetics and genomics, or other relevant disciplines
- Preferred: interests in Statistical Genetics and Genomics and strong quantitative research background
- Preferred: proficiency in one or multiple popular programming languages, e.g., R, Python, C++
- Preferred: experience working with large genomics data, next-generation sequencing data, and high-performance computing clusters with Linux environment
