About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a key laboratory management and research coordination resource working closely with the Principal Investigator and research team
- Coordinate day-to-day laboratory operations
- Onboard and train new laboratory members
- Schedule laboratory meetings and activities
- Maintain laboratory records and inventory
- Purchase research supplies and equipment
- Communicate and negotiate with vendors
- Coordinate equipment service and maintenance
- Facilitate interactions with collaborators, core facilities, and institutional administrative offices
- Assist with research project coordination, financial and administrative activities, manuscript and presentation preparation, reports, grant-related materials, and long-range laboratory planning
- Participate in research activities, data analysis, experimental planning, and collaborative projects depending on experience and scientific background
- Supervise generally ten or more employees in a large and/or complex research laboratory
- Manage administrative, financial, staffing, and planning aspects of research
- Design instrumentation, theoretical models, equipment, and other vehicles for data gathering and analysis
- Design and apply scientific and numerical models in research
- Oversee development and integrity of data collection and instruments
- Conduct ongoing, periodic, and final data analyses using specialized techniques and programming
- Write and collaborate on manuscripts, abstracts, and other research publications
- Collaborate with researchers on long-range plans for overall research
- Perform related responsibilities as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in a scientific field
- Five years of professional research experience
- Three years of supervisory experience
- Related master's degree preferred
- PhD or Master's degree in a biomedical or related scientific field preferred
- Prior experience managing or coordinating activities in an academic research laboratory is highly desirable
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Experience with laboratory purchasing, inventory, vendor coordination, budgeting, personnel onboarding and training, and research administration preferred
- Scientific experience in structural biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, virology, neuroscience, or related areas advantageous
- Experience supporting collaborative research projects, manuscripts, grant-related activities, and scientific presentations desirable
